Questions about Argentina vs Uruguay for remote workers.

Can an employee use each country's remote-work route?

Argentina's nomad residence is for people working remotely for people or companies abroad (180 days plus one extension), but its form names independent work; ask a consulate about employees. Uruguay's decree covers remote work for entities abroad: 180 days, renewable once, no income minimum.

What other routes exist if you are paid a salary?

Argentina: rentista counts asset income, not pay; pensionado needs a pension; a worker needs an Argentine employer's pre-contract. Uruguay: a foreign employee's permanent file needs a notarial certificate of the link; a worker file needs pay of at least one minimum wage (to be safe, more than UYU 26,000 a month).

Is a foreign employer's pay taxed in each country?

Argentina taxes residents worldwide, from 12 months on temporary authorisations; Canada's and Australia's treaties can leave pay taxable only at home on short stays; the US and New Zealand have none. Uruguay: over 183 days makes you resident; no ruling was found on pay for work done there for a foreign employer.
