Why it is here
Why Canggu is on the list.
A city is listed when there is evidence that people move there. This is the evidence.

- A February 2026 property-agent guide calls Canggu 'still the main digital nomad center of Bali', full of remote workers, freelancers and founders, with many coworking spaces and a big international community; it gives no headcount. [E1]

Questions about Canggu.
Where is Canggu, and how many people live there?
Canggu is a coastal village area on Bali's south-west coast, with a 10 km beach. The Kuta Utara subdistrict around it had 85,318 registered residents at the end of 2021; Canggu village itself had 6,829. These are civil-registration counts and say nothing about how many foreign residents live there.
What do rents look like in Canggu?
On 16 October 2026 one agent's monthly page listed seven one-bedroom apartments at IDR 16,875,000 to 49,000,000, and a one-bedroom villa listing asked IDR 25,000,000 (electricity not included). These are asking prices from one agent, not a city average. A 2026 guide says rents are higher than before.
Which immigration office covers Canggu?
The Ngurah Rai immigration office in Jimbaran, Badung. Its September 2026 press release reports a stay-permit operation at a club in Canggu, and the office has a second counter at Discovery Mall Bali in Kuta. The office's list of its work area did not load, so the area is taken from the press release.
Is Canggu a digital nomad hub?
A February 2026 property-agent guide calls it still the main digital nomad centre of Bali, with many coworking spaces and a big international community, but heavy traffic and higher rents. It gives no headcount. The Ngurah Rai office issued 3,831 limited stay permits in 2022 for its whole area, not Canggu alone.
What is the weather like in Canggu?
The nearest station with a 1991-2020 record, Ngurah Rai airport about 11 km away, shows daily highs of 29.2 to 31.7 °C, with rain averaging 350.7 mm in January and 27.6 mm in July. Fernshore counts three comfortable months: June, July and August.

Checked 15 October 2026. Ngurah Rai airport (WMO 97230) is the nearest station with a 1991–2020 record: about 11 km south-east of Canggu. Mean of the daily maximum temperature in each month, from 7,358 daily readings made between 1991 and 2020 (about 600 readings per calendar month): January 30.9, February 31.1, March 31.2, April 31.3, May 30.6, June 29.8, July 29.2, August 29.2, September 30.1, October 31.1, November 31.7, December 31.1 °C. The WMO Climate Normals 1991–2020 file that NOAA holds for this station (97230) has no maximum temperature or rainfall, so the normals were computed from the daily record. A secondary copy of the WMO normals on Wikipedia gives 30.0 °C for September, which would make September a fourth comfortable month; the computed 30.1 does not.
