Why it is here
Why Pattaya is on the list.
A city is listed when there is evidence that people move there. This is the evidence.
- The Chon Buri Immigration Office sits on Jomtien Beach Road in Banglamung and lists a Pattaya telephone line. [V1]
- Regents International School Pattaya is a day and boarding school run by Nord Anglia, with an A-level or IB Diploma choice at Sixth Form; a sister school's page says it has taught in Thailand since 1995. [Pattaya S1] [S2]
- A 2026 guide describes a large, organised expat community anchored by the Pattaya City Expats Club, which meets weekly; that is the guide's own description, not a headcount. [E1]

A 2026 guide (private, not official) says a comfortable single life costs about THB 40,000 to 50,000 a month, with rent from THB 8,000 to 30,000 by location and type; it names a 43 m² Jomtien condo at about THB 13,500. These are the guide's estimates, not dated adverts.
Do I need a visa to live in Pattaya?
Visa rules are national. Visa-free entry is 30 days since 15 September 2026. For longer, the Destination Thailand Visa gives 180 days plus one 180-day extension. The Chon Buri Immigration Office is on Jomtien Beach Road in Banglamung and lists a Pattaya telephone line.
How hot is Pattaya?
Average daily highs run from 30.2 °C in December, the coolest month, to 33.0 °C in April, so no month has a high of 30 °C or less. Rain is over 150 mm only in September and October (Thai Meteorological Department normals, 1991–2020).
Is Pattaya safe?
Fernshore has no Pattaya-specific safety measure. The Global Peace Index 2026 ranks Thailand 101st of 163, a national score. Canada's travel advice says riptides can be strong in coastal areas including Pattaya, with several drownings, and urges care at night in entertainment areas across the country.
How big is Pattaya, and is there an expat community?
Pattaya City had 116,100 registered residents in December 2025; the urban area is larger. A 2026 guide describes a large, organised expat community built around the weekly Pattaya City Expats Club. Regents International School Pattaya offers A-levels or the IB Diploma at Sixth Form.
