Why it is here

Why Phuket is on the list.

A city is listed when there is evidence that people move there. This is the evidence.

  • British International School Phuket opened in 1996, teaches more than 1,100 day and boarding students from about 60 nationalities, and lists an IB Diploma Programme. [Phuket S1]
  • InterNations shows 7,273 members in Phuket and a Phuket community group of 8,947 members from 157 nationalities. A 2026 guide describes a large, diverse expat community and adds that many people stay for months rather than years. [Phuket C1] [E1]
