Questions from digital nomads about Mexico.

Does Mexico have a digital nomad visa?

The visa guidelines and consulate pages we read name no nomad or remote-worker visa. Consulates take remote-work income for temporary residence on economic solvency, for more than 180 days and up to four years. A visitor stay is up to 180 days, and visitor status allows no paid activity in Mexico.

How does a freelancer show income for Mexican temporary residence?

Las Vegas accepts proof of self-employed income such as a business licence or 1099 forms, with six months of statements. San Diego's checklist describes only an employer's letter, so ask how it treats freelancers. The guidelines test is a monthly income above a set figure; to be safe, have more than MXN 80,000 a month.

Can I enter as a visitor and work for clients abroad?

The maximum visitor stay is 180 days, but the officer sets your exact days and may ask about funds and onward travel. You can't extend it or change status from inside Mexico. Visitor status doesn't allow paid activity in Mexico, and no page we read says remote work for foreign clients is allowed.

Does Mexico tax people who keep moving between countries?

Mexican tax residence follows your home: if you set up a home there, or keep one in Mexico and abroad and your centre of vital interests is in Mexico, you are resident. The article has no day count. Your home country may still treat you as resident. We don't assess your case.

How dependable is the internet for someone who moves around?

Mexico has 21.74 fixed broadband subscriptions per 100 people (ITU, 2024), which Fernshore grades mixed. That counts subscriptions, not speeds. Telmex's October 2026 list shows home plans from MX$279 to MX$899 a month with tax, where its network reaches. Test upload speed at each address.
