Questions from families about Portugal.

Which relatives can come with me, and how?

Listed family members include a spouse, minor children or dependants, adopted minors, and first-degree parents who depend on you. A relative applying with you uses the accompanying-family visa; family of a legal resident needs AIMA authorisation first, then a visa application within 90 days.

How much money must a family show?

The portal scales means of subsistence from the minimum wage: 100% for the first adult, 50% for each further adult, 30% for each child. For two adults and two children, to be safe, show more than €2,000 a month. It does not say how this applies to remote-work visas.

What do visas cost for a family?

The national visa fee is €110. Children under 6 are exempt, and in family reunification only a spouse or parent pays; children of a permit holder applying through family reunification pay nothing. Other costs, such as police certificates and insurance, are not priced here.

How would healthcare work for a family in Portugal?

A foreign national with legal residence can get an SNS user number and register at a health centre. The number alone does not guarantee the SNS covers costs; that needs a valid residence permit on the record. The WHO coverage index is 83 of 100 (2023). Family insurance prices are unknown here.
